Gareth Edwards’ 60th Birthday Gala Dinner
Widely regarded as the best amateur to have ever graced the world’s rugby pitches, former Wales Captain and British Lions player, Gareth Edwards celebrated his 60th birthday here in Tokyo. A great evening was had by all who came along to the dinner at the Westin Hotel on June 8th, 2007.
Garath Edwards was accompanied by Ian Robertson, former international rugby player and BBC rugby commentator. The event was hosted by Martin Bayfield, a former England and British Lions player, produced by Ironmonger Events Limited and sponsored by Cathay Pacific Airways.
The Tyler Foundation was the featured charity at this event and money was raised through a raffle and some very special live and silent auctions – including a signed print by Nelson Mandela with a copy of his cell key at Robben Island! Dinner guests had a chance to chat with Gareth Edwards, Martin Bayfield (did you know he played a young Hagrid in one of the Harry Potter Films???) and Ian Robertson and hear some great stories from their infamous rugby careers.
Thanks again to Gareth and his crew for supporting the Tyler Foundation!
