Pre-Race Interview
What is your past marathon experience?
Tokyo 2007, New York 2010. My best time was 4:15:00.
Why have you chosen to run in the Tokyo Shine On! Marathon Challenge?
My first Tyler event was a Charity Dinner in Tokyo in 2006, after hearing Kim speak and being reduced to tears by her emotional address I have made Tyler my charity of choice in Asia. I ran the 2007 Tokyo Shine On! Marathon Challenge for Tyler with a handful of others and it is great that so many more people now run for Tyler. If you have ever had anything to do with sick children you can see the wonderful support the foundation gives to the parents and siblings both sick and healthy and how big a difference that can make in a child’s life.
What is your message to your supporters?
Quite simply give as much money as you can, I will turn up and run the whole way even if the weather is as bad as 2007 again. Knowing the Tyler Foundation will benefit from every yard I run makes a huge difference to my motivation. It’s a cliche that “we can all make a difference with our live’s” but this for me is one of those real moments and would add, to those of my friends in Japan, if you aren’t already committed to a cause take a closer look at the Tyler Foundation and get involved directly.
Thank You, Ed Pockney!
