Charity CD Delivered to Sakari Elementary School
On October 31st, the Tokyo based non-profit organization, the Tyler Foundation, supporting children in the earthquake and tsunami-affected areas, delivered a charity CD album, ‘Shine On! Songs Volume One‘ to Sakari Elementary School in Ofunato.
Sakari Elementary School students participated as the chorus for the song ‘Who I Want To Be’, which is an English version of Kenji Miyazawa’s poem, ‘Ame nimo makezu’.
The lead vocalist, Rie fu (26 years old), and entertainer, Gaetano Totaro, visited the school to deliver the CD to the principal, Sato-sensei.
The music video, including images of children commuting to school and singing, was played during the event. The children cheered upon seeing themselves in the video.
One girl (12 years old) smiled and said ‘I want to cherish this song’.
Rie fu said, “I was deeply empowered by the children. I want them to go after their dreams, and do what they like.”The CD contains 12 songs performed by international artists. Priced at JPY2,500, and available online, all proceeds go towards funding the Tyler Foundation’s programs.
The Tyler Foundation is a non-profit organization which supports children with cancer and their families in Japan. It also provides relief activities in the affected areas.
