The cause we support is picked every year. This year (2011) given the number of people affected in Japan due to many different difficulties striking all one after the other, the BritCham community wanted to reach out; help rebuild the community and support the recovery of Japan. How We Support the Tyler Foundation
On June 8th 2011, BritCham Singapore organized a Dinner with Rugby Legends. Almost 370 attendees and some last minute gate-crashers swarmed to meet Rugby Legends and Idols - the charming - Mr. Will Greenwood(UK), the extremely funny - Mr. Scott Quinell(UK) and the entertaining – Mr. Owen Finegan (AU) at Shangri-La Hotel. The night was charged and electric, with the exceptional auction conducting skills of Mr. Justin Sampson. The silent and live auction of “can’t be missed” and “must have” sports memorabilia generated over $21,000+ proceeds for Red Cross for New Zealand crisis, Tyler Foundation for Japan Crisis. The crowd was generous beyond our imagination, even the planned token gifts - signed Rugby balls, brought in a wave of donations to help towards our charity cause. All the members and guests had a great time and a great number of them partied on till 4am.
