Tohoku schools are still trying to catch up on their curriculum almost a year after the disaster. Because of that, the Tyler Foundation’s Smile Ambassador often does shows during the after lunch free time.

The Tyler Foundation’s Shine on! Therapy Dog Program is looking for new therapy dog handlers. Are you ready to try a new challenge with these therapy dogs who are working in hospitals everyday?

Asahi Telementary (TV) will feature our Shine On! Therapy Dog, Bailey. The show will take a look at Bailey and Yuko, Bailey’s nurse-handler, as they work in Shizuoka Children’s Hospital. This is the only hospital in Japan that has a full-time therapy dog program. Watch for how the Shine On! Therapy Dog program is helping kids with cancer. (Japanese only)

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan came to the Shine On! House last week (February 18th) with 48 doughnuts and doughnut decorating kits in hand. The 30 children were able to decorate, eat and celebrate a fun day. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed their treats. A big thank you to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan for the doughnuts and for taking the time to create a lovely day for everyone.

Tokai Shimpo carried article about Tyler Foundation’s Shine On! Smile Ambassador visit to nursery school in Ofunatto with Jordan. This was realized by the strong request from the nursery school.

Exciting news! Professional Cyclist Fumy Beppu will be our Shine On! Team Beads of Courage 2012 Cycling Ambassador! He’s going to carry our beads on his races this year!

Therapy Dog Handler Report

The Tyler Foundation’s Shine On! Smile Ambassador, Gaetano Guy Totaro, was featured in an article published on January 25, 2012 (Wednesday) in the Fukko Kamaishi Shinbun, a local newspaper in the Tohoku Region.

All of the children had great energy throughout the day! Thank you to all the children and their families for their participation.
