About the Shine On Marathon Challenge
Taking it step by step!
Running for charity is the most rewarding way of running a marathon. Over the next three years we'll be working with the
local community to raise 100 million JPY in funds each year through marathon running. All proceeds will go
towards building a dream Shine On House in Japan.
Shine On House will be a support centre accommodating local Japanese and expatriate families with pediatric patients afflicted
with cancer. It'll aim to provide short and long term (1-2 years) accommodation, counseling space, daily and weekend care; and
activities for siblings of patients.
This is an ambitious but very vital cause that you and your friends and family can be a part of. We are asking runners who are
already signed up for the Tokyo Marathon 2008 to register with us for the Shine On Marathon Challenge. For runners, it’ll give you
the chance to show off your talent and be in the running to win some fantastic prizes including two airline tickets!
For supporters, friends and family of registered runners are encouraged to cast their bets in the name of charity and make an online
pledge for their favourite team or individual runner.
